If you’ve not had your head under a rock for the last couple of years then you’ll know full well how fun TikTok is! Everyone is getting on the platform if not to go viral then just to create fun videos to share with their friends and family.
If you’re just beginning to make TikTok Videos you might find that you are confused about how to do some video effects that others are using such as zooming in and out while filming. Zooming is a great visual effect that will help create depth and atmosphere to your content by emphasising the desired object.
We’ll show you how easy it is to use the built-in zoom function in TikTok in a few easy steps below.
Zooming in and out while recording
The shutter when filming a TikTok video turns into a hollow circle from a filled in red. If you press and hold it you can use your fingers to move it around the screen to create the zoom effect. Check out the steps below.
Step1: Open the TikTok App
Step 2: Tap the + at the centre of the bottom banner to create a new video (red box)
Step 3: Press and hold the shutter icon to start filming – you should choose your video duration and any templates you might want before starting as well (look below the shutter icon)
Step 4: Move your finger up to zoom in (this will make the circle bigger)
Step 5: Move your finger down the screen to zoom out
Step 6: Press the tickbox in the right bottom corner when you’re done recording
Using the Zoom Effect
TikTok offers a lot of filters and effects that become part of viral trends. One of these effects is an effect where you zoom in and out fast on a part of your video. To use this effect follow the steps below.
Step 1: Once you’ve ticked that you’re done filming tap on effects in the bottom banner (bright green box in the image)
Step 2: Swipe along the effects until you find Zoom and select it (Green box). Then select the part of the video you’d like to apply the effect to the selectin cursor has a star next to it – just drag it to where you want.
Add any other effects, text voiceover etc you’d like and post your video and upload it when it’s ready.
