How to Upload a PDF to WIX

WIX is an incredibly handy and easy to use tool that allows an average user to create, design, edit, and run their own website, even if they have no prior knowledge of coding or programming. However, some features might still be difficult to decipher on this platform when you’re a first-time user, such as uploading and adding different files to your website.

If your goal is to include PDFs on your site when using WIX, follow the guide below to find the option that suits you best:

Uploading a PDF

In order to include a PDF file on your website, you might first need to upload it into your WIX library. Here’s how:

  1. In the left-hand part of the Editor, press on Media.
  2. Now, press the Media icon (two photos) and then simply select a file you’d like to upload.

Now, choose one of the following ways to include your uploaded PDF file on your website.

Linking a PDF

If you wish to link a part of your text or a single word to your chosen PDF file, simply follow these steps:

  1. In the Content Editor of the related text, highlight the word or phrase that you would like to link to a PDF.
  2. Then, press the Link icon (two links).
  3. Here, you could paste the URL of your PDF, or even press the blue Upload File tab to upload a PDF directly from your device.
  4. If you wish, you could also check the Open in new tab box to have your PDF automatically opened in a new browser tab.
  5. Finally, press the Insert Link button to save.

Including a PDF button

WIX also allows you to insert a document button that will prompt any readers of your website to download your PDF by click on it. Here’s how to insert the button:

  1. In the left-hand part of the Editor, press the Add icon (plus sign) and then select the More option at the bottom.
  2. Under the Document Buttons section, choose your desired PDF icon by clicking on it.
  3. Now, you can choose your desired PDF from uploaded files or press the Upload Docs tab to upload a PDF directly from your device.
  4. Finally, press the Add to Page button.

Displaying a PDF on your site

If you wish to display any PDF file directly on your website, you will first need to download a PDF viewer application that will allow you to do so. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Firstly, locate the PDF Viewer on the WIX App Market, and then press the blue Add to Site button.
  2. In your Editor, click on the viewer application, and then select the Settings option.
  3. Now, you can choose your desired PDF from uploaded files or press the Upload Docs tab to upload a PDF directly from your device.
  4. Then, press Add to Page.
  5. You will now be presented with different options for your PDF, such as layouts, display customizations, and downloading and printing toggles.
  6. Select your preferences and save your changes.
