How to uninstall Spotify on a Mac

  1. With Spotify open on your Mac, left-click ‘Spotify’ in the top-left of the Mac’s menu bar (situated next to the Apple logo in the very top-left), then select ‘Quit Spotify’
  2. From the menu bar, click ‘Go’
  3. From the drop-down menu, locate and click ‘Applications’
  4. A window will pop-up containing all of the applications you currently have installed on your Mac. Scroll through the list until you find Spotify
  5. Right-click on the Spotify icon in the Applications folder
  6. From the pop-up options, left-click ‘Move to Trash’, then exit the Applications window
  7. From the menu bar, click ‘Go’
  8. Select ‘Go to Folder’ from the drop-down menu
  9. In the search box, type in “/Library/Caches” and then click ‘Go’
  10. In the next window, scroll to locate two folders labelled “com.spotify.client” and “com.spotify.installer” right-click each folder in turn, and select ‘Move to Trash’ – then exit out of the ‘Caches’ window
  11. From the menu bar, click ‘Go’
  12. Select ‘Go to Folder’ from the drop-down menu
  13. In the search box, type in “/Library/Preferences” and then click ‘Go’
  14. In the next window, scroll to locate the file labelled “com.spotify.client.plist”right-click this file and select ‘Move to Trash’ – then exit out of the Preferences window
  15. From the menu bar, click ‘Go’
  16. Select ‘Go to Folder’ from the drop-down menu
  17. In the search box, type in “/Library/Application Support” and then click ‘Go’
  18. In the next window, scroll to locate the folder labelled “Spotify”right-click this folder and select ‘Move to Trash’ – then exit out of the Application Support window
  19. From the menu bar, click ‘Go’
  20. Select ‘Go to Folder’ from the drop-down menu
  21. In the search box, type in “/Library/Saved Application State” and then click ‘Go’
  22. In the next window, scroll to locate the file labelled “com.spotify.client.savedState”right-click this file and select ‘Move to Trash’ – then exit out of the Saved Application State window
  23. Finally, empty your Trash/permanently delete the files in your Trash to finalise the uninstallation of Spotify from your Mac
