FAQs
What is the TikTok Creator Fund?
Announced in June 2020, TikTok HQ decided to set up a creator fund to pay its most popular content creators for the views and engagement their TikToks attracted. The Chinese company stated that it was allocating a whopping $1bn over three years to the fund.
Essentially, the TikTok Creator Fund is designed to put some money back into the community of amateur content creators who have helped to make the app so massively popular in the first place. Those who have been accepted to the Creator Fund can make money every day based on the number of views their videos are attracting.
Since content on TikTok can take a lot of time and effort to create, it makes sense that the people who benefit financially from that content (the owners of TikTok) should give a little of that money back to the community of people who actually make the content.
Why would I want to sign up for the TikTok Creator Fund?
It’s totally not mandatory to sign up for the Creator Fund. In fact, there are some pretty strict criteria you need to meet to even be considered in the first place. Still, if you fit the criteria, then you may well want to sign up to the TikTok Creator Fund to make a little money from the videos you post.
If you already spend a decent amount of time every day creating content for TikTok, and if you’ve noticed that your content is attracting a lot of attention, then why not sign up for the Creator Fund and start making some actual money for your time and effort?
There is currently no limit on the number of people who can be a part of the Fund, and the amount of money you make fluctuates with the engagement with your videos. It’s hassle-free and requires nothing more from you than what you’re probably already doing.
Who is eligible to sign up for the TikTok Creator Fund?
Not everyone can sign up for the TikTok Creator Fund, and not everyone who can apply will be accepted into the scheme. In order to apply in the first place, here are the criteria you must first meet:
- You must live in either the U.S., the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy or Spain.
- Your account must be Pro and active, and your content must comply with TikTok Policies
- Your account must have at least 10,000 real, authentic followers.
- Your account must have had at least 100,000 real, authentic video views in the last 30 days (pre-application).
- Your account must have a valid linked payment account, which can be used through TikTok (e.g. Zelle or PayPal)
How much money can I make from the TikTok Creator Fund?
The answer to this question depends entirely on the content you produce and its popularity with the global TikTok audience. The money you are paid for your videos is calculated based on the number of views each video gets, and the additional engagement with each video. However, there is no fixed ‘per-view’ dollar amount.
The amount of money paid to you comes from the central ‘pot’ of the Fund, which itself can fluctuate in amount, meaning that you’ll make more money on average, the fuller the pot. You can make anywhere from $1 or less a day, to $50+ a day, depending on your video’s popularity.
For reference, one averagely-popular member of the TikTok Creator Fund reported her highest payday being $50 after receiving about 1,000,000 views that day.
