Printing different types of documents has become nearly an everyday occurrence nowadays, whether it comes to our professional or personal lives. However, if printing is new to you, or you’re simply used to printing out your files on one side of the printing paper only, some aspects such as double-sided printing might seem a bit confusing at first.
If this is the case with you as well, here is a quick guide that will teach you how to print your files on each side of the printing paper, depending on the device you’re currently using:
Table of Contents
With a PC
- Firstly, load the file you’d like to print out.
- Then, press on the File tab. It’s usually located in the upper-left part of the window.
- From the next menu that shows up, press on Print. Alternatively, you could also press CTRL + P on your keyboard simultaneously.
- A Print window will now open, where the one-sided print option is usually selected automatically. Press on this option (or alternatively find the Page Layout segment) and then select the Print on Both Sides/Double-Sided option.
- Finally, click on the Print tab in order to begin the process of printing.
With a Mac
- Firstly, load the file you’d like to print out
- Then, press on the File tab. It’s usually located in the upper-left part of the window.
- From the next menu that shows up, press on Print. Alternatively, you could also press Command + P on your keyboard simultaneously.
- This will open a new Print window. Here, press the Copies & Pages tab, and then choose Layout.
- Now, just click on the box located beside the Two-Sided option.
- Finally, click on the Print tab in order to begin the process of printing.
Using double-sided printing manually
In case you don’t own a printer that provides you with the feature to print double-sided, you will still have the option of printing your files on either side of the paper, although you will need to go through a couple of additional steps. Here’s how:
- On your PC or Mac, load the file you’d like to print out.
- Press File, and then choose Print. Or, press CTRL/Command + P on your keyboard.
- Now, find the Page Range segment in the next Print view.
- Here, type in either even or odd numbers (for instance ‘2, 4, 6’ or ‘1,3,5’).
- Click on the Print tab and wait for the printing procedure to finish.
- You will now have to turn the printed paper around in your printer. Do so by ensuring that the opposite side now faces the front.
- Now, load the Print view once again by pressing the CTRL/Command + P keys.
- Here, type in the opposite range of numbers to the one you previously entered. If you’ve typed in even numbers, enter odd ones now, and vice versa.
- Finally, click on the Print tab and wait until the printing procedure has finished.
And that’s it! Whether your printer already offers the feature to print double-sided or not, you can now print all of your files on either side of the paper, just by following the handy guide above.
