How to Make a Smooth Stone in Minecraft

Being among the most common building blocks in Minecraft, a Smooth Stone can be wonderful for decoration, and quite useful as a crafting ingredient in many recipes.

If you want to learn how to make this essential Minecraft material, here’s a step-by-step guide that will help you craft your own Smooth Stones:

Crafting Smooth Stones

Step 1: Finding Cobblestones

Cobblestone is the most common stone in Minecraft, and can be found nearly anywhere. So, just grab your pickaxe and start mining.

While you will need Cobblestone to build a Furnace, make sure to mine more than necessary, as it will be useful later on.

Step 2: Finding Coal

Coal is also incredibly common in the game, and it’s usually identified by its distinct black marks. What’s more, you won’t even need a pickaxe to mine it.

Step 3: Building a Furnace

Firstly, you need to craft a Furnace, in order to make the Smooth Stones you want. To do this, simply arrange 8 Cobblestones around the edge of the crafting table, while leaving the center empty.

Step 4: Using the Furnace

Once you have your Furnace, you’ll want to place it on the ground, or anywhere else you’d like it in your home or base.

Then, you’ll have to use your Furnace to turn Cobblestone into Stone. In order to do this, simply put the Cobblestone in, and use the Coal as fuel.

The Cobblestone will now be converted into Stone, which can then be further refined.

Step 5: Crafting a Smooth Stone

In a surprisingly easy turn of events, you can simply repeat the same process in order to turn Stone into Smooth Stone. Just place the Stone you crafted into the Furnace and wait for it to burn through, and you will have the Smooth Stone you wanted.

And that’s it! While you can also find Smooth Stones in various villages and chests, or by mining a Stone with a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch, this method is undoubtedly the easiest and the most basic way to craft Smooth Stones.
