Whether you want to ensure your safety or keep your animals safe and contained, the best way to achieve this is by making a fence around your Minecraft farm and structure. To help you do just that, here are two different ways you can make a fence in Minecraft:

How to make a Wood fence
Step 1: Crafting wood planks
In order to create a fence, you’ll need at least six planks of the same wood. You can choose any type of wood you want, but it would be wise to stay consistent, for the color and the overall appearance.
To get four wood planks from one wood block, simply place it in the center of your crafting table grid. Keep in mind that you will be using the other two planks to create sticks.
Step 2: Crafting sticks
Now, use two planks you made from the wood blocks in order to create sticks. Simply place one plank in the middle of the crafting table, and the other one directly below it, in order to craft four sticks out of two planks.
Step 3: Crafting fence pieces
To create fence pieces, place one stick in the center of the crafting table, and another one directly below it. Then, place four planks on either side of the sticks. The bottom two rows should look like this: plank, stick, plank.
Keep in mind that all the pieces should be from the same wood type.
Step 4: Adding the fence to the inventory
The final step is to simply add your crafted fence pieces to your inventory. The recipe described above will make three fence pieces.
How to craft a Nether Brick fence
Step 1: Acquiring a pickaxe
In order to mine Nether Bricks, you will need a pickaxe of any kind. However, considering the fact that the Nether is quite a dangerous area, it would be a good idea to have a more powerful pickaxe that will allow for quicker mining, such as an Iron pickaxe or better.
Step 2: Making your way to the Nether
Nether Brick fences can only be created by using Nether Bricks. The only way to find these bricks is in the Nether, which can be accessed through a Nether Portal.
The Nether can be a particularly rough area, and shouldn’t be undertaken if you’re not well-equipped. So, make sure to stack up on healing items.
Step 3: Finding a Nether Fortress
As you make your way through the Nether, you simply can’t miss the powerful structures that are Nether Fortresses. They often look similar to bridges rising above the ground. Keep in mind that you will have the best chances of finding a Nether Fortress when you travel east or west.
It’s also worth mentioning that Wither Skeletons and Blazers can often be found in Fortresses, both of which have been known to drop useful materials for future crafting projects.
Step 4: Mining Nether Bricks
Nether Bricks are the main components of Nether Fortresses. In order to mine them, you will have to use a pickaxe. Although you will need six pieces to create a fence, it would be wise to stock up on more for bigger projects.
For every six blocks of Nether Brick you use, you will get six Nether Brick Fences, meaning that the ratio of block to fence is 1:1. However, you might need multiples of six blocks in order to use the recipe.
Step 5: Crafting fence pieces
When you’ve collected at least six Nether Brick blocks, you can start making the Nether Brick Fences.
To do this, simply fill the bottom two rows of your crafting table with Nether Brick blocks.
Step 6: Adding the fence to the inventory
The final step is to simply add your crafted fence pieces to your inventory. The recipe described above will make six fence pieces.
And that’s it! With just a bit of time and effort, any type of fence can easily be built in Minecraft.
