How to Download Facebook for Android

Most Android phones and tablets nowadays come with Facebook already installed on the device, making it quite easy to use this social media network wherever you are. However, if your device didn’t have the Facebook application pre-installed, or if you deleted the app previously for some reason, you will need to download the Facebook manually, in order to enjoy all the benefits of interacting with posts, messaging your friends, or contacting businesses on the go.

To that end, here is how you can download Facebook applications on your Android device:

Downloading the Facebook app

In order to download the Facebook application to your Android device, simply follow these steps:

  1. Open the Play Store app on your device. It’s usually located on the home screen or in the app drawer.
  2. If you’re not already, sign in to your Google account in order to use the Play Store.
  3. Next, look for Facebook using the search box at the top.
  4. Tap on the first result that appears, and then press the green Install button.
  5. The Facebook application will now be downloaded to your device.

Note: If you don’t want to take too much of your device’s memory, or you want to preserve your mobile data, Facebook also offers a Lite version of their application for Android. But even though this app might be less demanding, it won’t come with all the features and perks of the regular Facebook app.

Downloading Facebook Messenger

While the browser version of Facebook might have an integrated chat option, the mobile app doesn’t. This means that if you want to send messages to your Facebook friends using your Android device, you will need to download Facebook’s Messenger app. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Play Store app on your device. It’s usually located on the homescreen or in the app drawer.
  2. If you’re not already, sign in to your Google account in order to use the Play Store.
  3. Next, look for Messenger using the search box at the top.
  4. Tap on the first result that appears, and then press the green Install button.
  5. The Facebook Messenger app will now be downloaded to your device.

Note: Similarly to the main Facebook application, Messenger also has a Lite version you could download if you want to save on memory. However, it will come with less features and options as well.

And there you have it! With just a couple of quick steps, you can easily download Facebook and Messenger to your Android device, and get connected with your friends.
