FAQs
What is Face Zoom on TikTok?
TikTok is a video-creation and sharing platform that has taken the world by storm in recent years. Users create their own unique videos, usually featuring themselves, which can then be remixed or built upon by other users. This way, TikTok has successfully created an addictive online community of content-creators, always searching for the next trend.
And speaking of next trends… The ‘Face Zoom’ effect is one such craze. The ‘Face Zoom’ effect is pretty clever and cool – it basically tracks your face and zooms in on it so that it fills most of the screen.
As you move your head about, your camera tracks it, keeping it centered at all times. Moving your head just out of shot pulls the camera back to default zoom level, allowing you some versatility with this effect.
Why would I want to do Face Zoom on TikTok?
You may be drawn to the ‘Face Zoom’ effect for any number of reasons. Primarily, of course, it has become something of a trend on TikTok to use it. Since an ever-evolving, ever-revolving system of trends and fads are what makes TikTok the app it is, you may simply wish to take part in the ‘Face Zoom’ trend so that you can be a part of it.
Of course, the effect has wider applications, too. It is an especially useful effect to employ if you’re shooting a video in which you sing or move to a song or beat. Since the ‘Face Zoom’ effect tracks your face and zooms in on it, bopping your head to a beat has a more pronounced effect than if you did so without the effect applied.
Alternatively, the Face Zoom effect would be perfect for funny videos, if used at the right time to deliver a quick comedic close-up of your or a friend’s face. Similarly, you might want a close-up of your face for beauty videos or to highlight your makeup, hair, or other cosmetics. In truth, the possibilities are endless. Just have fun with it!
Can I find the effect from the ‘Effects’ tab when I make a new video?
The TikTok app doesn’t have a search option for the effects you can apply to a video you’re creating in the app, unfortunately. In other words, if you tap the (+) icon from your home screen to make a new video, then tap the ‘Effects’ icon, you won’t be able to search directly for the ‘Face Zoom’ effect.
Instead, however, you can bookmark, or favorite, the Face Zoom effect by finding it using our method described above. Once you’ve done so, the Face Zoom effect will be easily located in the bookmarked/saved tab of the ‘Effects’ menu when creating any new video.
Alternatively, of course, you could always tap the ‘Effects’ icon from the create page and scroll through the various effects folders there until you locate the Face Zoom effect. It is a pretty popular effect, after all, so hopefully shouldn’t take you too long to locate it. ‘Face Zoom’ looks like a small smiling face in a blue box with a viewfinder around it.
