Frequently asked questions
Why would I want to delete all my bookmarks in Chrome?
Google Chrome is an excellent and much-beloved web browser, used by millions of people all around the world, every single day. It allows its users to sync their data across multiple devices, so long as they are signed in to the same Google account on each device.
This feature is fantastic, as it means all of your saved passwords, bookmarks, and favorites pages (as well as search history) are synced across your various devices, making your user experience of the browser fast, accessible, and efficient.
However, this syncing feature can also quickly clog up your bookmarks folder, sometimes so badly that it becomes more hassle to sift through the hundreds of bookmarked tabs trying to find the right one, than just to try and search for the page by memory.
Indeed, sometimes, it’s worth just deleting all Chrome bookmarks at once and starting afresh. We’re here to help you do just that, whether on a mobile, tablet, or desktop. Simply follow our step-by-step guides above.
Can I recover accidentally deleted bookmarks in Chrome?
Unfortunately not. When you delete one or multiple bookmarks from Chrome, they are deleted permanently. You are given about five or six seconds to press ‘Undo’ once you’ve carried out the deletion, thus recovering the accidentally deleted bookmarks. However, if you miss this window, you’ll not be able to recover your bookmarks unless you remember what they are, and manually revisit the various sites and re-bookmark each and every one of them individually.
Will bookmarks I delete on one device also be deleted on another?
If your various devices are all synced so that Google Chrome is connected and synced to the one Google Account, then yes – when you delete bookmarks from that account, they will also disappear on all other devices running Google Chrome through that account.
Bookmarks you delete on one account, however, will not be removed from any other (separate) accounts you may own.
How do I delete one bookmark at a time instead of all bookmarks at once?
We’ll discuss this above in the step-by-step tutorials, but the process is easy. You simply have to go to the Google Chrome Bookmarks Manager and click on one bookmark at a time, pressing DELETE on each as you go, rather than selecting a whole bunch of them and deleting them all at once.
