This Is How You Delete An Active Facebook Pixel In 5 Steps

The Facebook Pixel is a piece of code used as an analytics tool, which helps website owners track users as they navigate through the site. And while this helpful tool can easily be set up in Facebook’s Business Manager, deleting it is a bit more difficult, as there’s no straightforward solution to solving the problem of unwanted Pixels. However, it can still be done.

Removing an active Facebook Pixel:

  1. Open Business Manager.
  2. Click on the Settings menu (gear icon in the upper-right corner).
  3. In the left-hand sidebar, choose Data Sources, and then go to Event Source Groups.
  4. Choose a listed group* and then click on Connected Assets.
  5. Find the Pixel you want to remove. Hover your cursor over it to reveal the Trash Can icon, and then press it.

*If there are several Event Source Groups listed, you will have to search through each group individually for the Pixel you want to remove, using the Connected Assets tab.

Important note

With the latest update to Facebook’s interface, it seems like the ability to deactivate or delete a Pixel through Business Manager is no longer an option for some users. In that case, the recommended option would be to delete the Pixel code from your website, either by using tools such as Squarespace or Wix, or by locating the Pixel code that’s implemented in your website’s header, and then manually deleting it.
