If you use Instagram regularly, chances are you’ve come across a heartfelt comment or a funny remark you would like to copy and save in another location. However, due to the way Instagram operates, users simply can’t tap and hold to copy text as they might easily do in other applications.
In order to copy text from Instagram, you need to either use a web browser to access the Instagram website or install a third-party app on your smartphone. So, here are two ways you can copy Instagram comments:
Using a web browser
Whether you’re using a phone or a tablet, the easiest way to copy an Instagram comment is to open the post the comment was left on in a web browser on your device. Here’s how:
- Open the Instagram app on your device, and locate the post where the comment you want to copy was left.
- Once the post is opened, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen, and select Copy Link. This will copy the post’s URL into your device’s clipboard.
- Next, open your preferred browser and paste the link of the Instagram post into the URL bar.
- After the page has loaded, you can easily copy any comment (as well as the caption) using the tap and hold method, as you normally would.
- Now, simply paste the copied text into your chosen destination.
Downloading a dedicated app
The second method for copying Instagram comments is to download a dedicated mobile app that will allow you to copy any text from any application, including IG.
Due to its popularity, the Universal Copy app will be used for the purposes of this guide:
- Download and install the Universal Copy app, and grant it access to the permissions it requires.
- Open the Instagram app on your device and find the comment you would like to copy.
- Next, tap the Universal copy notification in your device’s notification bar to enter the Universal Copy mode.
- Tap the text you want to save, and press Copy in the upper-right corner to copy the entire text. If you simply want to select a portion of the text, press the Edit icon at the top before selecting Copy.
- Now, simply paste the copied text into your chosen destination.
Although the process might not be quite as straightforward as on some other applications and social media platforms, copying Instagram comments can still be done in a matter of seconds using the two methods mentioned above.
