When you copy a piece of text on your phone, or even a picture or a video, that copied material is stored on your device’s virtual clipboard, allowing you to paste it in another location. However, if you try to paste that copied material onto an Instagram post, you might not always succeed.
Instagram is a platform that was created for posting and sharing original content. For that reason, it doesn’t allow you to paste copied photos and videos. Thankfully, you still have the option of posting copied text from your clipboard on Instagram posts and Stories. Here’s how:
Pasting text onto Instagram posts
When you are posting a photo or a video to your Instagram feed, you can easily access your clipboard through the caption editing section. Just follow these steps:
- Copy the text you wish to post on Instagram from the file/website/app of your choice.
- Open the Instagram app on your phone.
- Tap the ‘+’ icon, and choose the content from your gallery you want to post on Instagram.
- Once you choose a photo or video to post, tap Next.
- Here, you can choose to edit your content or add a filter. After you’ve finished, press Next once more.
- Now, the ‘New post’ page will appear. Here, you can write your caption and paste the copied text.
- Tap and hold the ‘Write a caption…’ box next to your photo or video.
- Now, either Paste, Clipboard, or both will appear, depending on your device.
- To paste the most recently copied text, simply press Paste. By tapping on Clipboard, you will gain access to your device’s clipboard, where you can choose from a number of previously copied pieces of text.
- After your text has been pasted into the caption section, simply press Share to finish posting your content.
Pasting text onto Instagram Stories
Although the steps might differ slightly, finding the clipboard in Instagram Stories and pasting copied text is still quite a simple process. Here’s how you can do it:
- Copy the text you wish to post on Instagram from the file/website/app of your choice.
- Open the Instagram app on your phone.
- Tap the camera icon in the upper-left corner or swipe right to access Stories.
- Here, you can take a picture or video, or even upload content from your gallery by swiping up.
- Once the photo or video is chosen, tap on the text icon (‘Aa’ button) at the top.
- The text editing section will now appear. To paste the copied text, simply tap and hold on to the entry box.
- Now, either Paste, Clipboard, or both will appear, depending on your device.
- To paste the most recently copied text, simply press Paste. By tapping on Clipboard, you will gain access to your device’s clipboard, where you can choose from a number of previously copied pieces of text.
Note: You might notice that you can also choose photos from your clipboard here and paste them onto your Instagram Story, if you wish.
9. After your copied material has been pasted, simply press Your Story to finish posting your content.
While the process might not be quite as straightforward as on some other social media apps, you can still access your clipboard on Instagram and paste the copied text, in just a few quick and easy steps.
