How to Change the Text Size in Windows 10

Even though the default size of the font in Windows 10 is chosen to suit most users, it’s not the right option for everyone. Whether you have certain vision problems or you simply own a particularly small or large monitor, there could be a number of reasons why you might want to adjust the font size on your computer.

Fortunately, as Windows 10 is arguably the most customizable version of the OS yet, one of the settings you could effortlessly change is also the font size, allowing you to read the text on your computer that much more comfortably. Here’s how you could do just that:

Changing the text size

If you want to change the size of the text on your entire computer, including any apps and all written text, then simply follow the steps below:

  1. On your computer, click the Start button (Windows logo) and then press Settings (gear icon).
  2. In the window that opens, press the Ease of Access section.
  3. The Make Text Bigger option should be the first thing you see in this section, under the Display tab.
  4. Here, simply move the provided slider to a text size that feels the most suitable. You will see a preview of the font size in the box above as you adjust.
  5. When you’ve finished adjusting the size of the text, just press the Apply button to save your changes.

Note: If you can’t manage to find these options in your settings, you might need to update your system first.

Making everything bigger

In case you’ve already adjusted the size of the text on your computer, but you’re still struggling to see other things on your monitor, such as apps and images, you also have the option of making everything on your screen appear larger in Windows 10. Here’s how:

  1. On your computer, click the Start button (Windows logo) and then press Settings (gear icon).
  2. In the window that opens, press the Ease of Access section.
  3. Under the Display tab, look for the Make Everything Bigger section.
  4. Here, simply click on the Recommended size, and then select a percentage that feels the most suitable from the menu.

Note: You might need to restart your device in order to apply these changes.

Zooming in and out

If you only have difficulties viewing one part of the screen, Windows 10 also offers a Magnifier that will allow you to zoom in or out of some parts of the display. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Click on the Windows icon + Plus (+) keys on your keyboard simultaneously to load the Magnifier.
  2. In order to zoom in on your screen, keep on clicking the Windows icon + Plus (+) keys.
  3. In order to zoom out of your screen, click on the Windows icon + Minus (-) keys on your keyboard simultaneously.
  4. Once you’ve finished, simply click on the Windows icon + Esc keys to exit the Magnifier.

Whether your goal is to change the size of the text on your entire computer, make everything on your screen appear larger, or simply to zoom in on one part of your display, you can do so quickly and easily, just by following the handy guide above.
