How to Cancel Twitch Prime

One of the leading streaming services today, Twitch still reigns supreme when it comes to live in-game streaming, and is the most popular option among avid gamers and successful YouTubers alike.

After the company’s acquisition by Amazon, Twitch now offers a premium, paid-for feature for its users that allows them to enjoy both additional Twitch perks, such as free games and streaming storage, as well as Amazon Prime benefits like Prime Video.

But what happens when you give Twitch Prime a shot, and realize it’s not a good option for you? Described below are two different methods in which you could cancel your Twitch Prime subscription, along with a few tips that could be of help during the process:

Method 1: How to cancel your Twitch Prime subscription on Twitch

The first and arguably easier method for canceling your subscription for Twitch Prime is through the Twitch website itself. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Twitch website in a browser of your choice, and then sign into your profile if necessary.
  2. Press on your profile tab, located in the top-right part of the web page.
  3. A new menu will now drop down. Here, select Settings.
  4. Next, press the Connections button at the beginning of the Settings page.
  5. Then, press the Disconnect tab that can be found in the Amazon segment.
  6. Finally, press ‘Yes, Disconnect’ in the small window that pops up. Your Prime subscription will now be canceled.

Method 2: How to cancel your Twitch Prime subscription on Amazon

Although it might take a bit more time, your subscription for Twitch Prime can also be canceled through Amazon, by following the steps below:

  1. Open the Amazon website in a browser of your choice, and then sign into your profile if necessary.
  2. Press on the Account & Lists tab located in the top-right part of the web page.
  3. In the next menu that drops down, select My Account.
  4. Here, search for the Digital Content and Devices section, and then press the Twitch Settings option. You’ll then be redirected to the Twitch website, where you should see all of the accounts that you’ve previously connected.
  5. Then, simply press the Disconnect tab that can be found in the Amazon segment.
  6. Finally, press ‘Yes, Disconnect’ in the small window that pops up. Your Prime subscription will now be canceled.

Making the most of your current Prime subscription

Before you finally make a choice to cancel your subscription, make it a point to get the most out of your current Twitch Prime options. As part of its Prime subscription perks, Amazon offers a selection of different games each month, which can be downloaded for free.

If you want to do this, simply open the Twitch website in your browser, and then press the small crown icon at the upper-right part of the web page. Here, you’ll have the option to browse through a selection of free games, and download a game which appeals to you, while you still can.

Keep in mind that you will only manage to cancel your subscription to Twitch Prime using the methods described above, without actually unsubscribing from your subscription to Amazon Prime in the process. If you want to unsubscribe from Amazon Prime as well, remember that your profile on Twitch will then be automatically disconnected from Amazon, ultimately canceling both of your Prime subscriptions.
